Pluto in Sagittarius
Pluto in Sagittarius: Wisdom in healing and transformation. Pluto, the planet of transformation, regeneration, death, sex, politics and power was in Sagittarius, the sign of faith, truth, wisdom, understanding, religion, ethics, high courts, spirituality and long-distance travel for everyone on Earth from November 1995 to February 2008 (and again in June through November 2008 as well), the first time since the American Revolution.
During its 13-year sojourn here we saw religious and ethnic wars all over the planet, the ethnic cleansing of Sarajevo, Plutonic monsters such as Slobodon Milosevic and Saddam Hussein in power, violent religious fanaticism such as Muslim terrorist attacks and abortion center homicides, the Supreme Court’s abuse of power in the election of George W. Bush, pederasty exposed in the Catholic church, the accuracy or truth of suppressed childhood abuse memories called to question, the events of 911 causing fear of and death associated with long distance travel, a re-examination of the death penalty, court battles over assisted suicide, and the re-exposure of Roe vs. Wade.
All of these are examples of Pluto (abuse of power, fanaticism, mankind’s shadow) in Sagittarius (law, the high courts, ethical judgment). Perhaps it was no mistake that Bush used the word "crusade" in his initial public response to the 9-11 terrorists, as a crusade or religious war is quintessentially Pluto in Sagittarius. On a personal level each one of us feels that he or she must now discover his or her own personal truth. It looms as a compulsion that must be answered.
Pluto in Sagittarius also raises the issue of faith vs. dogma. Are you using your own vision of truth to guide you, or are you forcing others to your own views? As passion (Pluto) transforms the realm of absolute truth (Sagittarius), each of us is being forced to examine the very depths of our beliefs. And there are no verities to guide us, as the birth of the new from the ashes of the old is happening in the area of truth and belief.
